What is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)?
Trap Neuter Return (TNR) is done to stabilize colony populations & improve the lives of the feral cats living there, while saving shelter resources for adoptable cats. In addition to neutering or spaying the feral cats, we also administer life-saving vaccinations which help keep other local cats safe from disease.

TNR'd cats are typically ear-tipped while undergoing alteration surgery. This informs future rescuers & animal control that the cat is already neutered/spayed and does not need to be trapped. This serves a dual purpose: shelter resources are not spent on cats that don't need it, and the cats don't undergo unnecessary trauma being caught again.

TNR is sometimes referred to as Trap-Neuter-Release, however the cat rescue community is moving away from this definition. It is extremely critical that the cats are returned to where they were caught. That area is their home, where they know the dangers, hiding places, and hunting grounds. Cats that are relocated after being trapped & neutered/spayed are significantly less likely to survive.
