Trapping
Trapping is the foundation of our operation. When community members contact us about local unowned cats, the trappers head in. They set up cat-safe traps in areas with feral or stray populations, then watch for cats to trigger the trap. They then carefully retrieve and transport the cat(s) to a safe location for further assessment. This job takes a lot of time, patience, and dedication. Our trappers also work with the local humans, providing education and tips for keeping the community cats safe and the population under control.
Fostering
Once we've determined a cat may be tamable, our amazing foster parents step in. Most of our cats come from wild colonies and have had little or no human interaction. Fosters work with the cats to gain their trust and get them ready for adoption. This process can take weeks or months depending on the cat. They also play a big role in helping us find the right home for the cat, whether that's a quiet solo kitty life, a whirlwind of pets & kids, or a non-stop adventure captaining a house boat! (True story!)
Caretaking
While trappers' & fosters' roles are fundamental to cat rescue, there are some folks whose vital contributions cannot be overlooked. These awesome people help transport cats & equipment, keep food & supplies stocked, ensure blankets, towels, & beds are clean, and so much more. They are our backbone, and we are eternally grateful for their hard work.
